A direct claim is an option
The RAF leaflet describes a direct claim as one lodged personally with the Fund without a lawyer. It says the RAF has information officers at branch offices to assist claimants free of charge.
A direct claim still requires you to understand the form, provide accurate information, keep records and respond to requests. It is not a shortcut around the need for complete and truthful documentation.
When professional advice can help
- The accident circumstances are disputed or unclear
- A long period has passed and you are concerned about timing
- You are acting for a child, estate or another person
- You are asked to sign an agreement or do not understand correspondence
